Revolution in bridge construction with CEMVIN BRIDGE
CEMVIN brings innovative solutions to bridge formwork with CEMVIN BRIDGE technical fibre-cement boards. These boards are designed for lost formwork applications and offer significant time savings and improved aesthetics on concrete structures.
Exceptional properties
For use as lost formwork on bridge decks, CEMVIN BRIDGE boards have a completely unique set of features:
- High load capacity·
Used to create lost formwork systems, CEMVIN technical fibre-cement boards are fully load-bearing for the application of fresh concrete in the implementation of bridge decks.
- High mechanical resistance
Technical fibre-cement boards are highly resistant to tensile and bending loads, even at lower thicknesses. As a result, they contribute to reducing the weight of structures without compromising strength.
- Reaction to fire class A1
The products are not only non-combustible, they also protect structures against the spread of fire.
- Water resistance
The boards are long-term water and damp resistant.
- Frost resistance
The boards are resistant to frost and chemical defrosting agents.
Applications and use
The boards can be used for bridge decks, where they are used in thicknesses from 20 to 30 mm, depending on span and load. They allow the flexible installation on concrete, steel, and wooden beams, and easily adapt to project requirements.
Advantages over conventional formwork
Compared to traditional formwork, CEMVIN BRIDGE is a material that becomes part of the structure. Its excellent features ensure versatility. At the beginning of construction, it will serve as a damp-resistant and shape-stable supporting form for reinforced concrete bridge decks. Concrete easily adheres to technical fibre-cement boards due to the 79 percent cement contained in their composition. After the concrete solidifies they no longer have any load-bearing function, but does not mean they need to be removed – on the contrary, their properties are more than desirable on the undersides of structures. They give the structure a pleasing aesthetic aspect thanks to the smooth appearance of exposed concrete, and, without the need for additional surface treatments, will protect the bridge structure against all weather conditions.
Formatting and handling boards
These boards are produced in a 1,200 × 2,500 mm format and can be formatted according to the project design during production. If necessary, it is possible to cut the boards directly on the construction site using a conventional manual circular saw with a guide plate; we recommend the use of carbide blades. When cutting, a large amount of dust is generated, which is suitable for extraction; to reduce dust, it is important to use discs with a small amount of teeth at a low speed. The number of workers required to handle boards depends on their thickness and format; in some cases it is advisable to consider the use of mechanized equipment.
Determining board thickness
Determining the correct thickness of CEMVIN BRIDGE boards is crucial to ensure their optimal functionality and load-bearing capacity. The thickness of the board is determined on the basis of the mounting load, which includes the pressure of the concrete mixture and the weight of workers during the concreting. Dimensioning tables are used for the calculation. These take into account the most unfavourable static condition of a plain beam and provide values for determining the thickness of the board depending on the direction of stress and the span between supports. The minimum length of a board mounting on supports must be 40 mm, taking into account additional dimensional inaccuracies and misalignment of the beams.
